Madonna’s First Husband: Sean Penn
On the day Madonna turned 27-years-old, she married hunk actor Sean Penn after dating for six months. The pair reportedly met while filming the music video for Madonna’s ever-catchy song “Material Girl”.
You can probably say Madonna hit two birds with one stone, because not only did Material Girl become one of the biggest songs in her career, but she also earned herself a lover.
Madonna and Sean quickly became the It-Couple of the 80s, with many believing that they were a perfect match. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Shortly after their marriage, Sean and Madonna faced many serious issues in their marital life.
Perhaps the most controversial rumor surrounding the couple’s relationship was the abusive behavior that Penn allegedly had towards Madonna.
At one point during their relationship, Penn was even fined $1,700 and sentenced to a year of probation for striking a man whom he mistakenly thought was making out with his then-wife.

Madonna and Ritchie welcomed two sons together as a couple: Rocco Ritchie, the pair’s biological child, and David Banda, an orphan they adopted from Malawi, Africa.
