On 2nd April 1991, Landon started to feel a headache during his skiing vacation in Utah. Then on 5th April 1991, he was diagnosed with an acute form of pancreatic cancer.

On 9th May 1991 at The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Landon spoke about cancer & told his fans to pray for him.

Landon said that oranges caused his skin discoloration. Moreover, he said, “Damn, carrots are turning me orange” & “every time I eat or drink, I swallow digestive enzymes to replace what the pancreas has stopped producing. And then, once a day, I take a tried-and-true remedy for an intestinal irritation-a coffee enema. Yup, I get filled to the rim. Organic coffee, I might add.”
But the irony of fate was that he could not beat cancer. On 1st July 1991, this actor died in Malibu, California, only at 54.
